West Ward Ho! Hornets Stun Celtics 113-106

The New Orleans Hornets looked like they were in trouble Saturday in their game against the Boston Celtics. The team’s most consistent weapon point guard Chris Paul was limited to just 24 minutes of playing time after getting into early foul trouble. So?Hornets forward jumped into the nearest phone booth (actually when was the last time you saw a phone booth?) slipped on his Superman cape and carried New Orleans to victory over Boston 113-106. West scored a game?high 24 points for the Hornets.
Boston jumped out to a healthy lead in the first quarter, as they were ahead 36-23 at the end of the period.? New Orleans was able to make a small dent in the?lead in the second quarter as they?trailed? the Green Team 65-55 at the half.? Tyson Chandler cut the Celtics lead to just six points when he tipped a shot in to make it 87-81, with 54 seconds left in the third. Paul Pierce however drove to the basket and put it up and in at the buzzer Putting Boston up 89-81 heading?into the final 12 minutes of play. The Hornets opened up the fourth quarter on a 13-4 tear, as West slammed it home putting New Orleans ahead 94-93 with 6:11 remaining in the contest. The Hornets never trailed again.
West shot 10-18 from the floor, and went 4-4 at the line, for?his game high 24 points, along with 2 rebounds, in the New Orleans victory.? Chris Paul scored 12 points, 5 assists, 2 steals, 2 rebounds, Peja Stojakovic scored 10 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal. Bonzi Wells had another nice game off the pine, scoring 10 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal.
Boston shot a scalding 57.4% (35-61) from the floor for the game, and still could not pull out the win.? Paul Pierce lead Boston with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist.? Rajon Rondo scored 19 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, Kevin Garnett scored 15 points, 8 boards, 4 assists.? Ray Allen scored 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists. Boston four game winning streak is now a thing of the past. The Hornets now improve to 47-21, Boston is now 55-14.
