Jamison’s Double-Double Leads To Trouble For Pistons Wizards Win 95-83

Antawn Jamison recorded a double-double, and the Washington Wizards shot 52.8% (38-72) from the floor for the game as they?defeated the Detroit Pistons Sunday winning 95-83. Jamison was one of four Washington starters and five Wizards players to score in double figures in the contest.
The Wizards came out smoking in the first quarter as they grabbed a 28-20 lead at the end of the period. Although Detroit played better in the second quarter, the Wizards still went to their locker room at the half leading 47-40. The Pistons were down by just one point, as Richard Hamilton hit an outside shot to make it a?62-61 game. But Washington pulled away again and led at the end of the third quarter 71-65. Detroit could not close the gap in the fourth as the closest they got was just four points away.
Jamison led all scorers with 24 points, 12 boards, 1 steal, in the Washington victory. Caron Butler scored 17 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, Brendan Haywood 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block. DeShawn Stevenson scored 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, Darius Songaila scored 10 points coming off the bench, 2 rebounds, 1 assist.
Richard Hamilton led the way for Detroit with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal. Tayshaun Prince scored 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, Chauncey Billups recorded a double-double, 11 points, 11 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal. Rasheed Wallace scored 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal. With the win Washington now sits at 36-33, Detroit is 49-20.
