The Indiana Pacers issued a press release Monday, that pretty much stunned the NBA. Pacers longtime CEO and Team President Donnie Walsh will not return to the team next year. President Of Basketball Operations Larry Bird will be retained and carry on in his present capacity.

The last couple of weeks have been filled with speculation over where Walsh would end up next year. His pact with the Pacers? ends at the end of the season, and conventional wisdom was that he was going to leave the team. The New York Knicks, and Milwaukee Bucks are both interested reportedly in Walsh taking over their teams. The news did a 180 this past weekend as reports started filtering down that Walsh would stay with Indiana, and instead Bird would be shown the door. Walsh has been with the Pacers for 22 years, they reached the playoffs 17 times, win the NBA Central Division title 3 times, and made an appearance at the NBA Finals? during his tenure.
