Spurs Beat Depleted Magic 107-97

Manu Ginobili scored a game high 28 points, the San Antonio Spurs shot 54.1% (40-74) from the floor for the game, and the Spurs defeated the Orlando Magic Tuesday night 107-97. It was the fourth win in a row for San Antonio. Orlando lost both point guard Jameer Nelson?and forward?Hedo Turkoglu in the first?half to injury. Nelson ran into his teammate Dwight Howard and left the game with a bruised jaw, while Hedo sprained his wrist.

The two teams battled throughout the first half, Orlando holding a razor thin 29-28 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Magic were ahead for the entire second quarter, until Bruce Bowen hit an outside shot to put San Antonio on top 50-49 with 3:01 left in the period. The Spurs remained on top for the rest of the quarter, going into the locker room with a 58-56 edge.? Orlando opened up the third quarter with a 13-3 run, grabbing a 69-61 lead with 8:06 left in the period. Then it was San Antonio’s turn for a run, to the tune of 15-0 grabbing a 76-69 lead when Michael Finley hit a bucket with 2:14 remaining. The led at the end of the quarter 80-73.? The Magic cut the margin to just 2 points, at 87-85 when Rashard Lewis hit a trey with 6:33 left in the game. But Orlando seemed to run out of gas at that point, as they fell quickly behind and the game turned into a rout.

Ginobili scored 28 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, in the San Antonio win. Michael Finley scored 24 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, Tim Duncan recorded a double-double, 19 points, 15 boards, 4 blocks, 3 assists.? Tony Parker scored 11 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds.

Dwight Howard made his eighth visit this season the Association’s most exclusive fraternity, the “20-20 Club” as he scored 24 points, grabbed 21 boards, 2 blocks, 1 steal. Rashard Lewis also scored 24 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal, Keyon Dooling came off the bench and scored 19 points, 4 steals, 3 assists, 2 rebounds.? Carlos Arroyo also had a nice game coming off the pine, 17 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists. The Spurs are now 48-23, the Magic is 46-27.
