The “Houston Chronicle” reported Thursday that the “Ancient Warrior” Houston Rockets center Dikembe Mutombo is not ready to make a commitment one way or the other for next season. Mutombo who originally said that this would be his last season playing in the Association is being honored Wednesday night during the Rockets game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Deke is to be honored in a a ceremony at halftime commemorating his career. Well, only one problem, Deke is not sure if he wants to play one more year next year or hang up his sneakers. Mutombo has become revitalized since taking over as starting center after Yao Ming was lost for the season to injury. Now Deke is not ready to say anything definitively. He told reporters “People are trying to get me to say, OK, I’m coming back. I don’t want to say that right now. I want to play this year and go home. If I change my mind, I’ll let you know. At some point, I have to come to the decision that I”m going to walk away from this game. If it doesn’t happen today or tomorrow, someday it has to happen.” Deke will be 42 years old in June, he was drafted in the 1991 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets.
