Is Sasha’s Improvement Salary Fueled?

Los Angeles Lakers reserve guard Sasha Vujacic is having the best year of his career in the Association in this his fourth season in the NBA. Through 62 games he is averaging 8.5 ppg nearly double his previous career best of 4.3 ppg in the 2006-2007 campaign. He can also be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. The “Los Angeles Daily News” asked Lakers head coach Phil Jackson if he thought the improvement was solely due to Vujacic being motivated by a big pay day. Jackson responded “He’s having a really good season at the end of his contract, there’s no doubt about that. I hate for that to be a motivating factor for a player, but with Sasha it’s maturity more than anything else. Just learning the game.”
