K-Mart’s Late Free Throws Carry Kings Past Grizzlies In OT, 107-106

Not only can Sacramento Kings guard Kevin Martin score, but he is also clutch when the need arises; in Wednesday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies, he made two key free throws with 7.6 seconds left in overtime, pushing Sacramento past Memphis, 107-106 at Arco Arena.
With the Grizzlies looking to build their third quarter lead into double-digits, the Kings exploded, putting together a 22-4 run for a 70-61 lead; Sacramento’s Ron Artest scored 11 points and Martin added 10 as the Kings outscored the Grizzlies 38-23 to take an 80-73 lead going into the fourth quarter. Memphis would score 10 straight points to knot the game at 87 on a fast-break basket by Kyle Lowry with 6:27 remaining in regulation.
Trailing by a point, Memphis’ Hakim Warrick was fouled by Brad Miller; he would make 2 free throws to give the Grizzlies a 106-105 lead with 26 ticks left on the clock in overtime. But with 7 seconds left, Martin would be fouled by Memphis’ Mike Miller; Martin would make both free throws, sealing the win for Sacramento. Sacramento’s leading scorer was the aforementioned Martin with 36 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal while Artest scored 24 with 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 6steals; Brad Miller and Mikki Moore added 15 each - with Miller grabbing 17 rebounds, dishing out 8 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks while Moore grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out an assist.
Memphis was led by Warrick with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals while Lowry scored 16 with 5 rebounds, 5 assists and a block. Sacramento (32-39) now flies east to Washington, D.C. to take on the Wizards Friday while Memphis (18-53) flies south to Los Angeles to face the Lakers - also on Friday.
