The “Star-Ledger” reported Thursday that New Jersey Nets Team President Rod Thorn has confirmed that Nets head coach Lawrence Frank will return to the bench next season. Frank is under no pressure to make the playoffs to keep his gig, Thorn said whether or not New Jersey makes the post season, Frank will be retained. The coach has two years remaining on his contract, and Thorn told reporters that despite New Jersey’s disappointing season, there was never any doubt to Frank coming back next season. Thorn was quoted in the report as saying “I don’t have any thoughts or ideas of replacing him at all. He’s done a good job for us, and I’m sure he’ll continue to do so in the future.”

?Nobody has ever accused Phoenix Suns center Shaquille O’Neal of being shy, or doing things in a small way. Well his post-retirement plans will not break with that tradition. The “Orlando Sentinel” reported Thursday that the “Big Cactus” already has a game plan for what he will be doing once his playing contract expires at the end of the 2009-2010. Shaq wants to become General Manager of the team he came into the Association with, the Orlando Magic. He also wants his current teammate and former Orlando player Grant Hill to join him down there as Team President. O’Neal told reporters that the two of them are needed down there. Hill when asked about the scenario by reporters said “He’s been talking about this a lot lately. I don’t know what prompted it, but he’s really fired up about the idea!”

The “New York Daily News” is reporting that the Memphis Grizzlies are interested in Larry Brown taking over as head coach for the team next season. Brown has stated throughout this year that he would like to return to the Association next season as a bench boss. The report says that Memphis has had enough of rookie coach Marc Iavaroni, who supposedly has lost control of the Memphis clubhouse. The team braintrust does not feel that Iavaroni has communicated well with his players. Brown’s name has also come up as a possible candidate to take over as head coach of the Chicago Bulls.

Nene May See Action vs. Mavericks

?
It was a long time coming, but I’m certain that the Denver Nuggets are glad it finally happened; the event in question is the return of forward Nene for the Nuggets.? Nene went through a full scrimmage, and afterward said that he could possibly return to action? tonight against the Dallas Mavericks.
2 days ago, Nene? was candid and at the same time cautious about his recovery from testicular cancer; he had been lifting weights and playing 1-on-1, but was hesitant about playing 5-on-5.? 48 hours later found that Nene had a change of heart after his performance in practice on Wednesday.? My money’s on Nene returning to the court tonight- albeit in a limited role.
