Oden Gets Chewed Out After Playing In Pick Up Games
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Greg Oden found out this week, that with great power comes great responsibility, he is no longer like everyone else. Oden the over all?number one pick by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2007 NBA Draft of course has been out all year recovering from micro-fracture surgery on his knee last September. Recently Oden has been joining his teammates in practice being cleared by team doctors to do that. The Associated Press reported Friday that apparently the center has been feeling pretty good during practice, because he played in two pick up games Wednesday night at his fitness center. The team found out about it and gave him an ear full, there will be no more pick up games in Oden’s future. Oden sheepishly told reporters Thursday he was only going to play one game but lost, so he had to play the second.? Blazers coach Nate McMillan said that Oden’s infraction was “pretty innocent” but he has to know that he can’t take risks like that. McMillan told reporters “I don’t think he thought he was doing anything wrong, and I’m sure he was trying to protect himself. But he just can’t do that!?He’s a young man.?He wants to be the same young man as when he came here.?And he’s not. He’s got too much value.”
