Texas’ Balanced Scoring Sends Stanford Home 82-62

Texas guard D.J. Augustin (#14) goes for a shot as Stanford forward Brook Lopez (#11) defends in the first half of their NCAA South Regional semifinal game, played on Friday. Texas defeated Stanford 82-62.?

It took an enforcer to help #2 Texas as they faced #3 Stanford in their NCAA South regional matchup Friday night at Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX; the enforcer in question was center Dexter Pittman.? While Pittman didn’t rough up the Cardinals’ Lopez twins Brooke and Robin with his scoring, he made up for it by wearing both of them down.? As a result, it freed up scoring opportunities for the Longhorns’ D.J. Augustin and others as they went on a late 20-3 run, enabling Texas to easily dispose of Stanford, 82-62, sending them to the NCAA?South finals.

Texas’ high scorer was Augustin with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals while Damion James scored 18 with 4 rebounds, an assist and 2 steals.? Stanford was led by Brook Lopez with 26 points, 10 rebounds, a steal and 2 blocks while Landry Fields scored 11 with 2 rebounds and a block.? Texas advances to the NCAA?South regional final as they host #1 seed Memphis on Sunday, March 30 at Reliant Stadium.?
