Celtics Humiliate Miami 88-62

This has been a devastatingly bad season for the Miami Heat. Injuries have ravaged the team, Pat Riley has started to sound like Humphrey Bogart in the film the “Caine Mutiny” it can’t get over fast enough. But as bad as this season has been for Miami, it may have it hit it’s nadir Sunday night. The Heat connected on a franchise low 17 field goals for the game, shooting an unbelievably embarrassing 28.8% (17-59) from the floor for the game, and 19% (4-21) from outside the arc. The Boston Celtics had no starter play more than 25 minutes, and still won in a rout 88-62.

This game was not a thing of beauty on either side of the court, but when you have no challenge what so ever, even the best teams will get sloppy. Boston did that Sunday. The Celtics started out the game strong but after the first quarter, you could see they had dropped their level of play several notches. Boston took a 32-13 lead at the end of the first quarter, and the game was effectively over. Boston just went through the motions after that, they led 50-30 as the game reached the half. It got no more entertaining in the second half, the Celtics led 68-48 at the end of three quarters. The fourth quarter was pure garbage time.

Boston was led by Leon Powe who came off the bench and recorded a double-double, 17 points, 13 boards, in the Boston victory. Kevin Garnett scored 12 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, Ray Allen scored 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal. Paul Pierce scored 10 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 rebound.

Miami was led by Chris Quinn, with 14 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, Ricky Davis also scored 14 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block. Blake Ahearn came off the bench and scored 12 points, 1 steal, in the loss for Miami. Boston after the bludgeoning?is now 58-15, Miami is 13-60.
