The San Antonio Spurs, in their game on Tuesday night against the Golden State Warriors, had their “Big Three” playing their A-game; the Spurs shot 55% from the floor while holding the Warriors to an anemic 37.5%.? The end result was an easy 116-92 shellacking of the Warriors at AT&T Center.? The Spurs’ victory was their 8th straight, inching closer to a playoff berth.
San Antonio dominated in nearly every statistical category – rebounds (54-37) and assists (25-8); Parker and Duncan were nearly the sole source of offense in a 20-8 run in the second quarter that pushed the Spurs to a 60-48 lead with less than a minute to go in the first half.? The Warriors got as close as 67-63 in the third quarter when Stephen Jackson drained a 3-pointer with 6:19 left in the period; the Spurs, however, went on an 11-0 run, sparked by Parker and consecutive 3-pointers by Bruce Bowen to put them up 86-73 with a quarter to go.
The Spurs’ reserve players got into the action, as well; Ime Udoka made a layup then drained a trey and Jacque Vaughn hit a 3, giving San Antonio a 94-73 lead – essentially sealing the win.? San Antonio was led by Parker with 26 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists while Tim Duncan scored 17 with 12 rebounds, a steal and 3blocks; Manu Ginobili, from off the bench, added 16 with 7 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks but 6 turnovers.? Golden State was led by Baron Davis with 19 points, including 3 treys, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and a block while Monta Ellis scored 14 with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a block but 5 turnovers.? San Antonio (52-23) look to add to their winning streak as they fly to Salt Lake City?to take on the Utah Jazz Friday while Golden State (45-29) makes the short trip to Dallas to face the Mavericks Wednesday.
