The “Los Angles Times” reported Friday that Los Angeles Clippers forward Corey Maggette, has no idea what he is going to do about next season. Maggette who has played 9 years in the Association 8 with L.A. can opt out of the final year of his 6 year contract after this season. Maggette is due reportedly about 7 million dollars next year, but with the stats? he has put up this year, including averaging 22.5 ppg, he could quite easily dwarf that figure. The Clippers due hold his “Larry Bird Rights” so they could pay him more than any other team. However in Maggette’s 9 seasons in the NBA he has made the playoffs once in the 2005-2006 campaign. Reporters asked Maggette his plans for next season Thursday, the veteran responded?”I’ve been here the longest out of any player on our team, and every time I see the good, the bad, the ugly. There’s going to be a good day, and if I’m here when that happens, I would love to be here! At the end of the day, if I’m going to be here, it’s because of the loyalty from the fans, the general manager and the owner. We’ll see.” I would say that’s about as non-committal as you can get.

The “Rocky Mountain News” reported Friday, that even though Denver Nuggets guard J.R. Smith is a restricted free agent after this season ends both sides seem to be anxious to make a deal. The Nuggets according to the report are letting other teams no in a subtle fashion, that they will match all offers. Smith who spent his first two seasons in the Association with the New Orleans Hornets, thinks he is a good fit with the Nuggets. Smith told reporters Thursday “Hopefully, I stay here, but business is business. I love my teammates. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else because I know I wouldn’t get this bunch of guys and this much talent anywhere else.”
