NBA & NCAA Join Forces To Promote Basketball To The Players Of Tomorrow

The NBA and NCAA held a joint press conference Monday at the Alamo Dome the site of the NCAA Final Four.? NBA Commissioner David Stern and NCAA President Dr. Myles Brand announced the formation of a joint venture between the?two?entities to promote the sport of basketball to today’s children, tomorrow’s players. The program that is yet to be named, is an outreach program for all those who are involved in youth basketball,?players, coaches, and parents. The program will be run as a business, with initial financial investment to be put up by both organizations. The program will stress building strong communities, educating athletes, supporting coaches, developing officials, as well as?organizing and sponsoring events for youth competition.
