Zo Might Just Do It After All

The “Miami Herald” reported Monday that apparently Alonzo Mourning wants to leave the NBA on his own terms. The paper is reporting that Mourning’s doctors say that his rehabilitation from? right knee surgery is going at a faster pace than was expected. The doctors told the 38 year old center he is 4 weeks ahead of schedule. Mourning underwent season ending surgery on his right knee back in January. The surgeon who performed the operation told Mourning he had done thousands of the same type of procedures, and had never seen a knee in worse shape than Mourning’s was in. The 38 year old veteran told the Heat website that he was retired soon after the surgery, but within 24 hours an embarrassed Miami Heat Media Relations Department said that Mourning had not officially retired, despite what he said in the interview. Had he retired at that point, his cap slot money would no longer be available for next season. This is the second time in less than a week that Mourning has broached the subject of coming back next year.?
