The Associated Press reported Monday night that the coach of newly crowned NCAA Champions Kansas Bill Self told reporters not long after the game that he would not rule out changing addresses during the off season. After the Kansas coach addressed the media in the interview room, as he was walking into the hallway according to the report, he was asked about rumors that he could leave Kansas to take over as head coach at Oklahoma. Self responded “That’s my alma mater. I know people down there. But they haven’t contacted me. I’ve said this last week. I would recommend they go in a different direction. I still feel that. I’m not going to say that couldn’t potentially happen, because I guess it potentially can.”

I would never begrudge anyone the opportunity to better their lot in life. That is what the “American Dream” is based on. I also understand the attraction of going “Home” as a conquering hero (Self is a 1985 graduate of the school.)? But that being said I have to say that I find it at the very least callous, and rather unseemly, to have talked about other opportunities moments after your athletes reach their lives dream.?There is a time and a place for everything, coach. Monday night at the Alamo Dome was not the time for you to talk about prospective job opportunities.?
