LBJ Is Back And Back Feels Fine Cavaliers Knock Off Nets 104-83
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
After missing practice on Monday and Tuesday with back spams, it seemed doubtful that Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star forward LeBron James would play Wednesday night when the Cavaliers took on the New Jersey Nets. But LBJ woke up Wednesday morning feeling much better, and declared himself fit to play. Well apparently the two days off were all he needed as he sored a game high 33 points, and the Cavaliers ripped down the Nets 104-83. Cleveland remained two games ahead of Washington for the fourth seed in the upcoming NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs. The Wizards defeated the Boston Celtics so the margin remains the same with now just four games left to play for each team.
New Jersey looked they were ready to play spoiler in the first half, as Cleveland has been reeling the last couple of weeks going 2-5 in their previous 7 games. The Nets had a slim 22-20 lead as the first quarter drew to a close. They extended their advantage to lead 53-49 at the half. Cleveland though took the momentum in the third quarter, as they led 76-74 as the two teams braced for what looked like an exciting game down the stretch. And then the curse struck again, for the fifth consecutive night. What curse you ask? Well it started last Friday night as the San Antonio Spurs scored just 9 points in the fourth quarter. Saturday it was Charlotte, Sunday night it was Phoenix, the league was dark Monday night, and Tuesday night it was Utah.? Wednesday night it was New Jersey. I think that Commissioner Stern should start an investigation, of this disturbing trend. Is it contagious, and will it infest the Association?
LBJ scored 33 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal, Wally Szczerbiak had a nice game coming off the bench as he scored 14 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 block. Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 13 points, 5 rebounds, Delonte West scored 12 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block, 1 assist. Daniel Gibson also scored 12 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 steals.
Vince carter led New Jersey as he scored 19 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block. Richard Jefferson scored 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, Bostjan Nachbar scored 14 points, and had 3 rebounds. Cleveland is now 43-35, the Nets are 32-46.
