The “Los Angeles Times” is reporting that USC freshman guard O.J. Mayo will?declare himself eligible for the NBA Draft and will turn pro this June. Mayo has told University officials that he will finish out the semester. The real shock with Mayo would have been if he had announced that he was returning to play in his sophomore year. Mayo who is projected to be a top three pick knew when he was in high school that he would only attend one year of college to satisfy the rules of the NBA. Mayo averaged a team leading 20 points per game. He was named a first-team All-Pacific 10 Conference choice. He also set University records for a freshman as he scored 684 points and connected on 88 three-point baskets.
