Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
The Associated Press reported Friday night that the Milwaukee Bucks have confirmed an earlier report in a story that was broken by ESPN.com and reported here at Slam Dunk Central?that they have hired John Hammond to become the team’s new General Manager. Bucks owner U.S. Senator Herb Kohl released a statement Friday night.?The statement read in part?”He is a proven NBA talent who has played an essential role in a winning NBA organization. We look forward to John’s contributions to our franchise.”
Hammond had been Detroit Pistons assistant General Manager, and right hand man to Joe Dumars. Hammond had been courted by other teams over the years but never had any inclination to leave before. Toronto was also trying to get him to come aboard for next season in the same capacity. Hammond will replace former Milwaukee General Manager Larry Harris who was dismissed on March 19. An earlier report said that Hammond will try to bring former Pistons head coach Rick Carlisle as is new bench boss replacing current coach Larry Krystkowiak.
