Rockets Reveal Olajuwon Monument

The Houston Rockets unveiled a 12 foot bronze monument to former Rockets Basketball Hall Of Fame Center Hakeem Olajuwon Friday night. The monument stands in front of the main entrance to the Rockets home the Toyota Center. Olajuwon was named to the Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2008 Monday. Olajuwon was quite moved by the monument. He said to the crowd “I’m sincerely grateful for this honor. This is the highest honor any player can receive in any city. We have traveled a long journey together, from college all the way to the Hall of Fame. I would like to thank the entire Rockets organization for their support over the years. I had a great time here and I cannot think of a better place to be.” Olajuwon was NBA MVP and helped the Rockets capture the franchises only two NBA Titles, in 1994 and 1995.
