The Denver Nuggets dramatically increased their odds of making the NBA Playoffs Sunday night as they handily defeated the Houston Rockets 111-94, in a game that was not as close as the final score indicates. Denver was in complete control of the game from the opening tip, and they ended a five game winning streak by Houston in the process. Denver will make the Post Season if they defeat the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night. Denver is now a half game ahead of the Golden State Warriors who appear to be headed to the position of being on the outside looking in after the NBA regular season comes to a close next week.

This game basically ended for all intents and purposes at halftime. Denver took a 24-18 lead at the end of the first quarter. They pretty much put the game away in the second quarter as they led 61-44 at the half. Denver increased their advantage in the third quarter to an 88-67 lead. The fourth quarter was just 12 minutes of garbage time.

Allen Iverson was a one man wrecking crew for Denver, as he scored a game high 33 points, 7 assists, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 block, in the Nuggets victory.? J.R. Smith came up huge off the bench, as he scored 23 points, 2 steals, 2 assists, Linas Kleiza scored 18 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist.? Carmelo Anthony scored 11 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, Marcus Camby did not have a big night offensively as he scored just 6 points, but he was a monster defensively 14 boards, 7 blocks, 3 assists, 1 steal.

Luther Head was the Rockets high scorer with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal.? Tracy McGrady scored 16 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, Steve Novak scored 15 points, off the bench 5 rebounds. Carl Landry scored 11 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist. Denver now has a record of 49-32, Houston is 54-26.
