I don’t know if it did for you, but the season flew by in a heartbeat for this NBA observer. It seems like Halloween was last week, and here we are heading into the NBA Playoffs. Before we say good-bye to the 2007-2008 campaign, I would like to share with you my choices for regular season awards.

MVP: LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers: Taking the term literally most valuable player, there is only one logical choice LBJ. The Cavaliers do not sniff the playoffs if he is not on that team. James also for the first time in his career led the?Association in scoring.

?
Coach of the Year: Byron Scott, New Orleans Hornets: B-Scott got a raw deal in New Jersey, but who has the last laugh now. Scott along with Chris Paul, David West, Peja Stojakovic, and Tyson Chandler were the most pleasant surprise of the NBA season. The Hornets won their first Southwest Division title.

?
Exec of the year: Danny Ainge, Boston Celtics: This one is a no-brainer. By bringing in Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, as well as role players James Posey and Eddie House, Ainge took a team that won 24 games in the previous season to 66 wins this year.

?
Rookie of the Year: Al Horford, Atlanta Hawks: Kevin Durant will most likely get the nod, but to me Horford is the man. He helped Atlanta make the playoffs for the first time since 1999. This young man will only get better.

?
Sixth Man: Manu Ginobili, San Antonio Spurs: The ultimate sixth man, who would be a starter on any other team in the Association. Manu is the third scoring option for the Spurs, but still ended up averaging 19.5 points per game.?

?
Come Back Player: Tyson Chandler New Orleans Hornets: If you are a regular reader of mine you know I have been campaigning for Chandler since February. This man did not resurrect his career, he started it this season. Chris Paul was a major help,?but Chandler is now a legitimate force in the middle.?

?

Defensive Player of the Year: Kevin Garnett, Boston Celtics: Not only did the “Big Ticket” dominate defensively, he inspired his teammates to do the same. Offense gets you on SportsCenter, defense wins Championships!

?

All-NBA First Team:

Point Guard: Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets

Shooting Guard: Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers

Small Forward: LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers

Power Forward: Kevin Garnett, Boston Celtics

Center: Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic
