The Associated Press reported Friday something that had been speculated about for quite a while. New York Knicks Team President Donnie Walsh dismissed head coach Isiah Thomas Friday as coach, however he will remain with the franchise in an untitled position. Walsh told reporters “I think Isiah remaining part of the franchise is good for the organization. I value Isiah’s knowledge of the game and his opinions, so I will use him as a resource. Isiah will be reporting to me. There will be nobody reporting to Isiah.”

It is quite a comedown for Zeke who had been both Team President and head coach just a couple of weeks ago. New York Owner James Dolan hired Walsh as Team President, and left the decision up to him. Zeke is still owed 18 million dollars from the team, he had signed a contract extension in March of 2007. The Knicks were 56-108 during Thomas’ two year tenure as bench boss.
