Add one more award to the many that Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett already possesses; according to SportsTicker, Garnett on Tuesday was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year; Garnett received 493 points, including 90 first-place votes, from a panel of 24 broadcasters and sportwriters throughout the United States and Canada.? Denver Nuggets center Marcus Camby came in second with 178 points while Houston Rockets forward Shane Battier came in third with 175 points.? While in his first season with Boston, Garnett was the team’s leading rebounder, averaging 9.2 RPG; he also averaged 1.2 BPG and 1.4 SPG.
