New Jersey Nets swingman Vince Carter, according to the Associated Press and verified by team president Rod?Thorn, had surgery to remove a bone spur from his right ankle Wednesday; the procedure was performed by Dr. Martin O’Malley in New York.? Carter will be on crutches for several weeks, followed by rehabilitation on the ankle; he is expected to be fully recovered for next season’s training camp.?
