The Wizards seem to be getting caught up in the moment during the first two games of this series. Instead of learning from their two previous match-ups against Cleveland in the first round the last two years, they seemed to have regressed. They are following the example of Designated Fool DeShawn Stevenson and talking trash. Then Monday night Brendan Haywood decided to channel former Bullets center Jeff Ruland (Former Celtics broadcaster the late great Johnny Most used to call Ruland and teammate Rick Mahorn “McFilthy & McNasty”.) Haywood got ejected from the game in the third, when the Wizards center shoved LBJ with both hands as if he was a NFL lineman and James went?a good few feet out of bounds before he fell to the floor. Haywood was charged with a flagrant foul and will probably face a suspension. I would not want to be one of the Wizards players in that locker room after the game or on that plane ride home with Washington coach Eddie Jordan. Jordan is a serious, intense, no nonsense coach. He does not suffer fools well! The Wizards will be in for the?verbal?equivalent from their coach of the beating they took on the floor at the hands of Cleveland.” Cleveland Holds Home Court Pummels Wizards In Game 2 116-86

Well apparently the Washington Wizards learned their lesson, as Thursday night they beat on the Cleveland Cavaliers like Ricky Ricardo used to do on the Conga Drum as they won game three 108-72. The Wizards were focused, played within themselves, and shot 52.1% (38-73) from the floor for the game. Ironically DeShawn Stevenson was the leading scorer for Washington with 19 points.

The Wizards knew they had messed up badly, in inciting the Cavaliers in the first two games. They were not about to make that same mistake a third time. Washington literally shut down the Cavaliers offense, not allowing them to score out of the teens in the first three quarters. When Cleveland was able to finally put up a total where the first number was a crooked number, it was not until the fourth and the Wizards still outscored them by 10 points.? Washington and Cleveland both looked tentative in the first quarter, but the Wizards ended the period with the lead 21-17. The Wizards came out of their lethargy in the second quarter, but the Cavaliers still looked like characters from “Night Of The Living Dead” as Washington took a 49-33 lead at the half. Things got no better in the third quarter for Cleveland as the Wizards took a 77-51 lead into the final quarter. The fourth quarter was extended garbage time.

DeShawn Stevenson scored 19 points, 3 steals, 1 assist in the Washington victory. Roger Mason came off the pine and scored 18 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, Caron Butler scored 17 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals. Antawn Jamison scored 15 points, 7 boards, 2 blocks, 2 steals, 1 assist, Brendan Haywood scored 14 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal.

LeBron James led all scorers with 22 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block. Devin Brown was the only other Cleveland player in double figures as he came off the bench and scored 10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists.? Washington is now right back in this series as Cleveland has a 2-1 lead in the series, with game four in Washington.
