He’s fit, rested, and ready to get back on the sidelines. Coaching addict Larry Brown took that first step Thursday in order to be back as a NBA bench boss next season, as the Associated Press has reported that he resigned as a Vice President of the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday. Having followed Brown’s career for as long as I have, it seems like that means he is probably getting close to getting a head coaching gig with a team from the Association. Currently there are two teams without head coaches, and one can be ruled out immediately as a choice that being the New York Knicks. New York of course was Brown’s most recent stop on the coaching carousel, as he was fired a year into a multi-year pact. The other current open spot is the Chicago Bulls, but other coaches may soon be in jeopardy. Marc Iavaroni rookie coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, was the subject of rumors earlier this month, as being dismissed by the team. Atlanta’s Mike Woodson, Detroit’s Flip Saunders?have also been named on the endangered coaches list. Sam Vincent in Charlotte has also not gotten a commitment from the team that he will be brought back to fulfill the second year of his contract.
