Thursday found, according to the Sacramento Bee, Sacramento Kings forward Ron Artest undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb; he had the procedure performed by Dr. Michelle Carlson at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.? Artest will wear a removable splint for six weeks and is expected to be at full strength in 8-to-10 weeks.? In the meantime, Artest has a decision to make – whether he wants to exercise the early-termination option in his contract with the Kings which would allow him to become a free agent on July 1; this past season, Artest in 57 games with Sacramento, averaged 38 minutes per game, along with 20.5 PPG, 5.8 RPG and 3.5 APG.
