At least for one night the same thing could be said for the Houston Rockets as they defeated the Utah Jazz in a thriller Thursday night 94-92 at the Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City. With the win the Rockets after losing the first two games of the Series in Houston, are at least back on life support as they trail the Jazz in the series 2-1. Tracy McGrady with a team high 27 points, and Rafer Alston playing for the first time in the series after recovering from injury scored 20 points.
The Rockets had a slim lead at the end of the first quarter 27-23. However the two opponents were deadlocked at 44-44 as the two teams went to their respective?locker rooms at the half. The Jazz took the upper hand during the third quarter and had a 76-70 lead heading into the final 12 minutes of play. But the Rockets shut down the Jazz in the fourth quarter as Utah could only muster 16 points, and T-Mac scored 7 of his points in the last quarter to give the Rockets the stay alive victory (not mathematically, but psychologically this was a necessity for Houston.)
T-Mac scored 27 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block, in the Houston victory. The man known as Skip-To-My-Lu from his days as a playground legend AKA Alston, scored 20 points, 5 assists, Luis Scola recorded a double-double as he scored 16 points, 10 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals. Shane Battier scored 12 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block.
Deron Williams recorded a double-double for Utah as he scored? a game high 28 points, dished off 12 assists, 3 rebounds. Carlos Boozer also had a double-double as he scored 15 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1?block, Mehmet Okur had Utah’s third?double-double as he scored 12 points, 11 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks. Ronnie Brewer also scored 12 points,?3 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, veteran Matt Harpring scored 10 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block. Utah has a 2-1 edge over Houston, game four will be played in Utah as well.
