Prince Leads Pistons Past 76ers 93-84, Series Tied 2-2
Posted by Stephen Rhodes under NBA PLAYOFFS
The Detroit Pistons seem to be like a cat lately; by explanation, the team, like the cat, seems to have nine lives.? An exaggeration perhaps, but when their backs are against the wall, Detroit seems to revive themselves.? Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers would be the perfect scenario for them to test their recuperative skills.? After the smoke cleared at Wachovia Center, the Pistons lived to?playanother game as Tayshaun Prince scored 23 points, leading Detroit to a 93-84 win over Philadelphia; the win knots this first round series at 2-2.
Neither team shot very well during the game (Detroit shot 42.5% vs, Philadelphia shot 46.3%) and that was magnified big time in the first half as the Sixers held a 46-36 lead going into the third quarter.? Detroit managed to erase their deficit by outscoring Philadelphia 34-16 in the period, highlighted by an 11-0 run by the Pistons – including a layup by Prince – giving Detroit a 47-46 lead.? Rasheed Wallace would hit?a pair of three-pointers which would increase their lead to 60-53; they would hold off the Sixers for the balance of the contest.
Detroit was led by Prince with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals while Wallace scored?20 with 4 treys, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal; Richard Hamilton and Chauncey Billups added 18 each – with Hamilton grabbing 5 rebounds, dishing out 7 assists and had a steal while Billups grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out 7 assists and had 2 steals.? Philadelphia was led by Thaddeus Young with 15 points, 9 rebounds and?3 assists while Samuel Dalembert scored 12 with 12 rebounds, an assist and 2 blocks.? Detroit and Philadelphia hook up again on Sunday at Palace of Auburn Hills.
