Mitchell Safe On Toronto Bench…For Now
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main

The “Toronto Sun” reported Wednesday that Toronto Raptors General Manager Bryan Colangelo sent a rather mixed message on the long term employment status of his head coach Sam Mitchell. Colangelo was quoted by the paper “Nobody should be looking at Sam Mitchell and saying it’s entirely his fault, or he’s facing a firing or a buyout. I have absolutely no intention of making a coaching change at this time.” Aaah, those three little words at this time.
Mitchell has been the subject of speculation that if he did not get past the first round in the NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs, that he could face termination. Toronto was eliminated by a dominant Orlando Magic team. Chicago, Milwaukee, New York, Charlotte, and Dallas have already terminated their head coaches. Scott Skiles has become the new head coach with the Bucks, Larry Brown is the new bench boss in Charlotte.
