Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
The “Seattle Times” reported Wednesday that Seattle SuperSonic forward Kevin Durant will be named as the NBA Rookie Of The Year. Durant was taken by Seattle with the second pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. The number one pick Portland’s Greg Oden missed the season due to micro-fracture surgery on his knee. Durant who reportedly beat out his only true competition Atlanta’s Al Horford, averaged 20.3 points as a rookie, the highest scoring average on his team. He also averaged the largest ppg average as a rookie since the 2003-2004 campaign when Carmelo Anthony led all rookies with 21 points per game and LeBron James averaged 20.9 points per game. Al Horford averaged 10.1 points, 9.7 boards per game and was a key component in the Hawks making the Post Season. The official results will be announced Thursday.
