Back On Top Boston Smothers Hawks 110-85 Take 3-2 Series Lead

So I guess the real question is did the Boston Celtics get a much needed wake up call from their back to back losses down in Atlanta against the Hawks? ?Judging by their performance Wednesday night the answer is an unequivocal YES, as they decimated the Hawks in front of the crowd at the “New Garden” 100-85. The Green Team showed a take no prisoners attitude from the jump, as they seemed to send a message to the Hawks, that they were done playing. From now on Boston would be stone serious in this series. The victory gives the Celtics a 3-2 series lead, they can close the series out in Atlanta on Friday.

Boston broke out quickly in the first quarter as they took a 27-19 lead at the end of the period. The Celtics increased their lead during the second quarter and walked into the locker room at the half with a 58-43 advantage. The Celtics never took their foot off the accelerator as they had the lead up to 81-64 as the third quarter drew to a close. The fourth quarter was just extended garbage time.

Paul Pierce led the way for the Green Team as he scored 22 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, in the Boston victory.? Kevin Garnett scored 20 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 steal, Ray Allen scored 19 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds. Veteran Sam Cassell came off the bench and scored 13 points, 1 assist, 1 rebound, Rajon Rondo scored 12 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block. Leon Powe came off the pine and scored 10 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block.

Joe Johnson scored 21 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal. ?Josh Smith scored 18 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, 1 block, Al Horford recorded yet another double-double, as he scored 14 points, grabbed 10 boards, 5 assists, 1 steal, 1 block. Marvin Williams scored 12 points, and had 2 rebounds. Boston knows they must maintain their focus on the road Friday to avoid a game seven in Boston.
