Former NBA and Syracuse University star Derrick Coleman is denying reports published in the “New York Post” that he is in need of a heart transplant.  Coleman is indeed a patient at a Detroit area hospital for an irregular heart beat but he told the “Detroit News“, that in no way is he a candidate for a heart transplant.  Coleman was quoted by the paper in response to the rumors “Do I sound like I need a heart transplant? I don’t know how this stuff gets started. I appreciate the love, but please tell everybody that I am fine. If I needed one I would be calling a press conference begging for one! This ain’t that serious!” The report says that Coleman is on blood thinners to dissolve clots near his heart. Coleman played in the Association from the 1990-1991 season through 2005. He played for New Jersey, Philadelphia, Charlotte, and Detroit during his career. Our wishes here at Slam Dunk Central a for a full and rapid recovery go out to Derrick and his family.
