??????????????????????

I tell you what - while it is true that there are quick hires in the NBA, this one may have broken the league record for speediness by a playoff team; according to Peter Vecsey and Tim Bontemps of the New York Post, Rick Carlisle has agreed to terms with the Dallas Mavericks to become their next head coach, replacing Avery Johnson.? In a nutshell, Mavericks owner fired Johnson on Wednesday, then interviewed and then allegedly hired Carlisle - all in less than 72 hours.

Carlisle?coached the Detroit Pistons from 2001 to 2003, going 100-64 and 12-15 in the playoffs; he was also named 2001-2002 NBA Coach of the Year.? Carlisle was replaced by Larry Brown then was hired by the Indiana Pacers following the 2002-2003 season; in 4 seasons with Indiana, Carlisle went 181-147 in the regular season and 18-17 in the playoffs.? Carlisle was fired by the Pacers after the team went 35-47, missing the playoffs for the first time since the 1996-1997 season.?
