Carlisle In As Mavericks Coach

????????????????????????????????????????????????Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle

In one of the worst-kept secrets this NBA post-season,?Marc Stein of ESPN.com is reporting that Rick Carlisle and the Dallas Mavericks?came to an agreement Friday on a four-year deal to become the team’s next coach; a news conference isn’t expected to take place before next Wednesday.? Initially, it appeared that Carlisle and the Mavericks were going to enter the weekend with no agreement in place, but both sides managed to hammer out a deal just before 11 PM local time.

Ironically, Carlisle, his family and 2 of Carlisle’s assistants – Dwayne Casey and Terry Stotts – arrived in Dallas on Thursday, so on that alone, it sounds like a deal was imminent.? Carlisle inherits a Mavericks team that reached the NBA Finals in 2006, but lost in the first round of the playoffs the past 2 seasons.? He has a career record of 281-211 after 2 seasons in Detroit and 4 in Indiana, going to the conference finals in consecutive years with both teams?and made the playoffs every year until his last year at Indiana.
