Teams that look invincible at home look like cream puffs on the road in most series so far in the NBA Post Season of 2008. The series between the San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Hornets is a perfect case in point. The buzz around the Association? earlier this week, was the “changing of the guard in the NBA Western Conference”.? The talk started after the New Orleans Hornets jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in their best of seven Western Conference Semi-Final series against defending NBA Champions the San Antonio Spurs. All that conversation is at least temporarily been put on hold as the series will head back to New Orleans tied 2-2. The San Antonio Spurs tied the series Sunday night with a convincing 100-80 victory over the team from the “Big Easy“. Tim Duncan led the way for San Antonio with a double-double.
The first quarter was played competitively on both ends of the floor, as the Spurs led at the end of the period by the slim margin of 24-22. But the?Spurs would take over the contest in the second and third quarters. They?walked into the locker room at the half the owners of a 55-42 advantage. They broke the game wide open in the third quarter as they surged ahead going into the fourth quarter 85-61. The Hornets in no way, shape, or form, constituted a threat at any time during the game’s final 12 minutes.
The crowd at the AT&T Center in San Antonio saw vintage Duncan as the Spurs big man led the attack for his team. Duncan scored 22 points, grabbed 15 boards 4 blocks, 3 assists, in the San Antonio victory. Tony Parker scored 21 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, Manu Ginobili scored 15 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block.? Ime Udoka came off the bench also scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, Michael Finley also had a?big night coming off the pine, scoring 12 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 block.
Chris Paul did as much as he could do to get the Hornets a win, but he did not have much help. Paul scored 23 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals. Jannero Pargo?came off the bench and scored 11 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, David West scored 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 steals, 1 assist. Game five will be Tuesday night in New Orleans with the series tied at 2-2.
