Bynum To Have Surgery On Balky Left Knee

The Associated Press reported Sunday that injured center Andrew Bynum will have surgery to repair his damaged left knee cap. The injury occurred on January 13, as the Lakers defeated Memphis 100-99. Bynum was hurt in the third quarter and to be helped off the floor. The Lakers originally said he would playing within 8-10 weeks. The date kept being pushed back and finally told reporters recently he did not think he could play this season. The surgery will be an arthroscopic procedure performed Dr. David Altcheck in New York. Bynum was having his strongest year in the Association before getting hurt averaging 13.1 ppg, 10.2 rpg, and 2.06 blocks per game.
