The “Akron Beacon-Journal” reported Wednesday that the Chicago Bulls have asked the Cleveland Cavaliers permission to speak to Eric Snow about him possibly becoming the next Bulls bench boss. Only one problem, Snow is still an active player and is signed to the Cavaliers for next season to a contract estimated at 7.3 million dollars. Snow was shut down for the season in early March. The veteran guard tore his left knee back in September, had surgery in October, and has been suffering ever since. Snow has very little cartilage in the knee so he basically is dealing with a knee that is bone on bone. He told reporters back in early April he believes he may have played his last game in the Association. Snow who will turn 35, at the end of the month is in season number 13 in the NBA. He had previously played for Seattle and Philadelphia, and came to came Cleveland in 2004-2005. However, he and the team still have not worked out any kind of deal and as of right now is still on the Cavaliers active roster. Cleveland has not granted permission for the Bulls to talk to Snow, pending a resolution to his status with the team. Snow’s agent Steve Kaufman released a statement to the media. Kaufman wrote in the statement “Eric is very pleased to have the opportunity to interview with the Chicago Bulls. We certainly recognize that Eric is still technically an active player and it still may have to be proven whether or not he is still capable of performing at a competitive NBA level. Sometimes this can involve an attempted comeback, depending on the nature and severity of the injury.”
