The “PA SportsTicker” reported Tuesday that Golden State Warriors guard Baron Davis wants to remain with the team. Davis is due 17.8 million dollars next season, which is the final year of his current pact. He did have a player’s option to opt out of the contract but a source from his agent said that Davis intends to stay right where he is. Davis had signed the deal while he was still a member of the New Orleans Hornets in July of 2002.

The Detroit Pistons sent a message Monday night, the NBA Eastern Conference Finals are far from over. Detroit forward Antonio McDyess had a huge first quarter, on his way to a double-double, and the Pistons held the Boston Celtics to a meager 31.8% ( 21-66) shooting from the floor for the game, while Detroit shot 51.4% (36-70). Put all those ingredients together shake vigorously and you have the makings of a 97-75 Detroit victory. The Eastern Conference Finals are now all tied up at 2-2, with game five to be played Wednesday in Boston.

This series has been a battle, as the the two teams with the two best records in the Association this season are standing toe to toe and slugging it out. It’s not a series that will make a lot of highlight reels in the next decade, series with the Pistons never are. Detroit is the master of the slow down half court game, which is why most of their games end up low scoring. But if you allow them to control the tempo of the contest, as Boston did Monday night, they are pretty near unbeatable.

Detroit jumped out to a 10-0 lead thanks mostly to McDyess who scored eight of the first ten points. The Pistons would have a 22-17 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Detroit stayed on top as the two teams went in to their respective locker rooms at the half with the Pistons leading Boston 43-39. Boston trailed by double digits for most of the third quarter, but they pulled within striking distance at the end of the third with Detroit’s lead cut to 65-58.? The Celtics were within five points, as Paul Pierce drove the lane and put it up and in making it a 78-73 game with 4:50 left in the game. Boston scored one more basket as Detroit would win handily.

Antonio McDyess scored a game high 21 points, grabbed a game high 16 boards, 1 block and 1 assist, in the Detroit victory.?Richard Hamilton scored 20 points, 7 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 block, 1 steal, Rasheed Wallace scored 5 blocks, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal.? Jason Maxiell scored 14 points coming off the bench, 3 rebounds, 1 block, Chauncey Billups scored 10 points, 7 assists, 2 steals,?despite of playing with a balky right hamstring.

Kevin Garnett recorded a double-double for Boston, as he scored 16 points, grabbed 10 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal.? Paul Pierce scored 16 points as well, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, Ray Allen scored 11 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists.? James Posey came off the pine and scored 11 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, Kendrick Perkins scored 10 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist.? Although Boston would have been tickled to leave Motown with 2 wins, they did what they had to do in game three, and have regained home court advantage. It is now a three game series with two of the games in Boston.
