The Associated Press Tuesday reported that the Sacramento Kings have announced that they have picked up the club option on President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie’s contract. Petrie will now be in the post at least through the 2009-2010 campaign. Petrie has worked for the team for 14 seasons, they have made the NBA Playoffs 9 times during that span. Petrie has also been named NBA Executive of the Year twice. Team Owner Joe Maloof released a statement to the media. The Kings Owner said “We’ve had the privilege of working with Geoff for the past nine years and consider him to be the best general manager in the NBA. He’s respected league-wide for his dedication to the game, innovation, scouting and diligence. We look forward to our continued work with Geoff as we bring the Kings back to prominence.”
