Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
The “Chicago Sun-Times” reported?Thursday that the Chicago Bulls will hire Doug Collins to become their next head coach. The hiring will most likely take place after the completion of the NBA Western Conference Final Series. Collins is an analyst for the TNT Network, and has been covering the series for the network. This will be the second go round for Collins as the Bulls bench boss, he had previously coached the team from the 1986-1987 season through the 1988-1989 campaign. He was also the head coach for the Detroit Pistons for three years, and the Washington Wizards for two seasons. Bulls General Manager?John Paxson issued the following statement Thursday ?”I have been in contact with Doug Collins in regard to our head coaching position. Contrary to some reports that are currently out there, we have not reached an agreement. Right now, his commitment is covering the Western Conference finals for TNT. When that series concludes, we will continue our dialogue. In the meantime, I will continue to talk to other candidates and review our options.”
