Cavaliers Gibson Has Ankle Surgery

Posted by Jeff Sack under Main

The Associated Press reported Tuesday that Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson had surgery on Tuesday in Houston to repair his left ankle. The operation was an arthroscopic procedure, and the guard going into his third season in the Association is expected to be ready at the start of training camp. Gibson first injured his ankle on February 20, in a contest against the Indiana Pacers. He subsequently missed the next 18 games for Cleveland. Gibson will be a restricted free agent this Summer, meaning the Cavaliers can match any offer. Gibson in his rookie season had played his way into the starting lineup mid-way through the regular season. He had his greatest success in the 2007 Eastern Conference Finals, as he had a very big series. Gibson took a step backwards in his second campaign in the league, as he fell out of the starting rotation. Gibson’s season came to an end when he suffered a separated shoulder in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.
