?????????????????????????????????????????????????? Chicago Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro

Well it appears that the Chicago Bulls finally got their man - or at least their version, anyways.? According to SportsTicker, the team will introduce Vinny Del Negro as their new coach at a news conference Wednesday at 3 PM EST.? Del Negro, prior to the hiring, served as the assistant general manager of the Phoenix Suns.? The Bulls did not reveal specifics of?Del Negro’s contract; however, the Chicago Tribune website is reporting that the contract is a 2-year, $4 million deal, with an option for a third year.

Del Negro gets to take over a Bulls team that disappointed last season, regressing to a 33-49 record; apparently, Del Negro impressed the Bulls tremendously as they chose him over former Minnesota Timberwolves coach Dwayne Casey (he will join Rick Carlisle in Dallas as an assistant) and Chuck Person (good move on Chicago’s part), even though Del Negro has no coaching experience whatsoever.? I do wonder however:? Why a 2-year contract?? Last time I checked, a coach is given a minimum 3-year deal.? That smacks of a short leash for Del Negro - in other words, they want results, and they want them now.? Good luck Vinny - you’ll need it.
