Reports Out Of Detroit Say ‘Melo Could Be Headed To Pistons
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Detroit Pistons Team President Joe Dumars and Charlotte Bobcats coach Larry Brown are know as pretty good judges? of NBA talent. However they both have one huge?blotch on their permanent records.?In 2003 when Brown and Dumars were together in Detroit, as Brown was the Pistons coach the team had the second pick in the NBA Draft. Of course the Cleveland Cavaliers having the first overall pick selected LeBron James, and reinvigorated the franchise. Detroit could have picked the NCAA Champion Carmelo Anthony out of Syracuse, instead they chose Serbian native Darko Milicic with the selection.? Anthony went to the Denver Nuggets with the third pick. Anthony has been a perennial All-Star with the Nuggets. Darko?barely got off the bench in Detroit and is now on his third stop in the Association, playing for the Memphis Grizzlies.
Very rarely but every once in a while, history has a way of correcting itself. It could be happening in Detroit. The Detroit Free Press reported Wednesday that there is a buzz in the Motor City that Dumars has had talks with the Nuggets involving the Pistons acquiring Anthony. Dumars has said that he is going to be doing some wheeling and dealing this Summer, as core players like Richard Hamilton, and Chauncey Billups could be shopped. Neither team has commented on the reports.
