??????????????????????????????????????????????????? Ryan Anderson

The University of California at Berkeley will be without their star player this season as according to the Sacramento Bee, forward Ryan Anderson – after much deliberation and consultation – has decided to forego his final two years of college and stay in the NBA Draft; during a conference call on Monday, Anderson stated that there were teams that told him that he would fall in between picks #17-25.? He further added, “I haven’t got that solid guarantee, which ultimately was what I was looking for.? But I realize that’s hard to come by.”

Typically, being picked in the late teens to early 20’s is optimistic, although Anderson’s case was helped by the withdrawal of Arizona’s Chase Budinger and North Carolina’s Ty Lawson from the 2008 NBA Draft.? Obviously money will come into play, depending on when and if Anderson is drafted; first-round draftees usually get a 2-year contract worth at least $1.655 million.? On the other hand, second-round picks aren’t guaranteed money, although there are exceptions to the rule; those fortunate few who are given guaranteed contracts start at the NBA-minimum $442,114.
