Rodman Pleads No Contest To Spousal Battery
Filed Under NBA Off The Court Issues, SDC COMMENTARY | Leave a Comment
You know those guys you see in the orange jumpsuits picking up garbage on the side of the road as you go speeding down the highway? Well if you are traveling in the state of Florida, in the near future you may want to slow down as you pass the work crews. One of those guys could be Dennis Rodman. The “Associated Press” reported Tuesday that former NBA player Dennis Rodman pleaded no contest in a Los Angeles courtroom to a charge of spousal battery. The charge stems from an incident in April when Rodman’s girlfriend Gina Peterson, said he struck her during an argument. Rodman received a deal?as two other more serious counts were dismissed. He has been sentenced to three years probation, one year of domestic violence counseling, and 45 days of road cleanup or removal of graffiti either in Los Angeles or in the state of Florida where Rodman resides. He?was also warned by the judge not to intimidate or to use force again against Ms. Peterson.
I have defended Dennis Rodman for years?as a?player who belongs in the Basketball Hall of Fame, despite his eccentricities. I have been willing to look?past the piercings, the tattoos, the penchant for dressing in women’s clothing. But D-Rod, this is where I draw the line, this is the despicable act of a bully, someone who takes advantage of his strength and size advantage over? someone who is weaker. To this reporter, the two most?heinous acts in the world is violence against women or children, it is inexcusable. Dennis you have to deal with your demons, thankfully?nobody was badly hurt, this time.

Shaq A Deputy No Longer
Filed Under NBA Off The Court Issues | Leave a Comment
Well I guess the question now for the “Big Cactus” is just how does that taste? The “Associated Press” reported Tuesday that Phoenix Suns center Shaquille O’Neal is having his deputy status revoked from Maricopa County after his “Freestylin” rap hit the Internet, and then Television ESPN: Shaq Rap Takes Shots At Kobe Bryant.?Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, told reporters that he was revoking the two special deputy badges he had given O’Neal in 2006, due to the language the center used in his raps. O’Neal used a racial slur, and other offensive language as he put down former teammate Kobe Bryant. Arpaio said that if an officer of his used similar language he would kick him off the force. O’Neal released a statement Monday saying it was all in fun and he meant no harm. The sheriff said what ever the intent, he was offended by the veteran’s words. Arpaio said “Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I don’t think that either conduct should be out there publicly, even if media wasn’t there. I want his two badges back. I don’t condone this type of racial conduct.” Shaq maybe you should stick to making movies, no wait, I just remembered your last one, never mind.
