???????????????????????????????????????????
It is amazing how one transgression can erase any success an NBA basketball player may have realized on the hardwood; according to Derrick Nunnally of the Philadelphia Inquirer, former Philadelphia 76ers player Aaron McKie turned himself in to authorities Sunday for a felony arrest.? Specifically, authorities charge that McKie lied when he attempted to purchase two pistols at an Abington, PA gun shop by hiding a restraining order – which forbade him from purchasing weapons.
The charge in question states that McKie is accused of lying when he said “no” to the gun purchase application’s question about a restraining order? to “protect his child or an intimate partner or child of such partner.”? After an arraignment, McKie was released on $50,000 bond and was ordered to surrender his passport; it remains unclear how this legal scrape will affect his status with the 76ers, as he was working with the team as a volunteer assistant coach for part of last season.? McKie is due back in court on July 3 for a scheduled preliminary hearing to answer to one felony and one misdemeanor charge – both relating to the gun purchase application.
