The “Associated Press” reported Monday night that the Detroit Pistons have signed former number one NBA Draft pick center Kwame Brown to a two year deal. Pistons team president of basketball operations Joe Dumars confirmed the signing late Monday night. The deal is a two year contract for $4 million per season. Brown has a player opt out clause after next season, which would make him a free agent if he exercises it. Brown was taken with the first pick by the Washington Wizards in the 2001 NBA Draft, but his career has not lived up to what was expected of him by the Wizards. Brown was one of a number of high school players taken that year that have failed to live up to expectations. He has averaged 7.5 points, and 5.7 rebounds. He has also played for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies.
