Team USA Battles Russian National Team 89-68

Team USA did not have the offensive firepower they had shown in earlier exhibition games as they took on the?National?team from Russia in Shanghai Sunday. But they still won the contest by over 20 points, as they defeated the Russians 89-68.? Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 19 points for Team USA who still shot 57.1% (32-56) for the game. The Americans led the contest early as they grabbed a 29-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. They extended their lead as the two teams went to their respective locker rooms? at the half with USA leading 46-31. Russia had their strongest? quarter of the game in the third but it still was not enough as the lead was extended to 71-51. Russia never really threatened in the final quarter.
Bryant was joined in double figures by teammate Carmelo Anthony, who scored 17 points, Dwyane Wade scored 16, and LeBron James scored 10 for the USA. Utah was led by Utah Jazz star Andrei Kirilenko with 18 points, J.R. Holden scored 17. Team USA will play their final tune-up game Tuesday as they take on the National team from Australia, featuring Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut.
